Why this role exists
Everything Redgate does depends on infrastructure that is reliable, secure and simple to run, from the office network to the identity services everyone signs in with. This role sits in Technical Operations’ Infrastructure Team and helps look after those foundations across physical, virtual and cloud environments, while making them easier to run through automation.
About Redgate
Redgate brings together people who want to do their best work in an environment built on trust, accountability, and collaboration.
We build solutions that help data professionals securely manage the data and databases that their organizations depend on, a space that’s only becoming more critical as systems scale, data regulations increase, and AI adoption accelerates.
AI at Redgate
By 2028, Redgate will operate as an expert-plus-agent company: domain experts amplified by AI, delivering customer value at a pace our peers can’t match.
AI handles the heavy lifting. Our people control the judgement. Everyone at Redgate works with Claude, giving you access to the best AI tools from day one.
Why join our Infrastructure team?
• You’ll work with a broad range of technologies across the whole stack, from networking right the way up to OS configuration and automation.
• Our team supports each other, shares knowledge freely and genuinely cares about helping others and enabling the rest of the business to do their jobs.
About the role
As an Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll help provision, operate and improve the physical, virtual and cloud-based infrastructure Redgate runs on. You’ll work closely with teams across the business to deliver secure, scalable solutions, with a focus on building things that are reliable and then using automation to keep them that way.
• Real variety across on-prem and cloud, from networking, virtualization and storage to identity platforms (Active Directory, ADFS, Entra, SSO and MFA) and core Windows and Linux environments.
• Ownership of Redgate’s local networks, including WiFi, switches, firewalls and internet connections.
• Scope to use scripting (PowerShell preferred) to make work more repeatable and cut down manual effort, alongside monitoring, troubleshooting and backup testing so recovery works when it’s needed.
• A trusted escalation point for complex infrastructure incidents and Service Desk issues, working with suppliers, external support teams and the Security Manager to find and fix infrastructure vulnerabilities.
• Room for judgement on pragmatic “value decisions”, such as build or buy, physical or cloud, and where it makes sense to standardize.
What makes you a great fit
• Strong experience designing, operating or supporting traditional infrastructure, including networking, virtualization and storage, plus Windows server administration and core Windows services.
• Scripting skills to automate tasks, solve problems and improve repeatability.
• Troubleshooting infrastructure issues across network, compute, storage and OS layers, in operational environments where availability, resilience and good incident response matter.
• AI fluency, using AI tools to help diagnose problems and deliver work.
• Sound judgement in balancing stability, automation and business needs, with the ability to own systems and to work both independently and collaboratively across teams.
What we offer
• Salary range: £55,000 to £70,000, dependent on experience
• Hybrid working: home and Cambridge office
• Monthly wellbeing allowance and generous paid time off
• Genuine investment in learning, development, and career progression
• Private health insurance
