Full description

We are an award-winning team of approximately 65 designers and architects deeply rooted in our communities. Our work spans Healthcare, Education, Workspace, Science & Technology, Civic, Justice & Public Safety, and Senior Living. Through collaborative planning and design, we build lasting client relationships and create environments that bring our clients’ missions and visions to life.

We are seeking a proactive, curious, and collaborative Marketing & Business Development (BD) Coordinator to help identify opportunities, build relationships, and support the firm’s growth. This position combines market research, strategic thinking, networking, and hands-on coordination.

Working closely with the Marketing/BD Director, Studio Leaders, and Marketing/BD team, you will develop an understanding of our clients, markets, and project experience. You will advance BD plans for assigned markets and geographic areas, contribute recommendations, and take ownership of outreach and follow-up.

Key Responsibilties:

  • Market Research & Opportunity Identification: Research target markets, prospective clients, decision-makers, and potential projects using industry news, board meeting minutes, and planning documents. Summarize findings and recommend next steps for outreach and pursuit planning.
  • Business Development Planning: Work with the Studio Leaders to translate firm and studio priorities into focused BD activities. Track action items, coordinate contributions, and follow through on commitments.
  • Relationship Building & Outreach: Develop a professional network through industry associations, community organizations, events, and individual connections. Coordinate introductions, participate in outreach, and support ongoing relationship development.
  • New Market Development: Help establish the firm’s presence in new geographic markets by identifying local partners, relevant organizations, and opportunities to make connections.
  • CRM & Opportunity Tracking: Maintain accurate client, prospect, contact, and opportunity information in the firm’s CRM system. Document interactions, track follow-up, and prepare reports that help the team assess progress and prioritize efforts.
  • Event & Conference Coordination: Research and recommend relevant conferences, sponsorships, speaking opportunities, and networking events. Coordinate participation and logistics, help attendees prepare, and track contacts and follow-up afterward.
  • Pursuit Support: Partner with pursuit teams to develop, produce, and deliver qualifications packages, proposals, and interview materials that tell a compelling story.
  • Marketing Collaboration: Work with the marketing team on the development of collateral, advertisements, and digital/print campaigns.
  • Client Relationships & Feedback: Support client check-ins and feedback efforts to strengthen relationships and identify opportunities to better serve existing clients.
  • Process Improvement: Explore practical uses of AI and other tools to improve research, information tracking, and coordination, while reviewing work for accuracy and relevance.

Requirements:

  • A proactive approach, strong curiosity, and the ability to work independently while knowing when to seek input.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to connect information to business opportunities and recommend next steps.
  • Confidence initiating conversations, asking questions, and developing professional relationships.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and consistent follow-through.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate when information or decisions are needed to move work forward.
  • Interest in learning the firm’s services, clients, project experience, and market sectors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign preferred).
  • Experience with CRM systems or a demonstrated ability to learn and maintain contact and opportunity databases.
  • Comfort learning and applying new technology, including AI tools.
  • Willingness to attend professional and community events, including occasional events outside regular business hours, and travel as needed.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in business development, marketing, market research, client relations, or a related role is required.
  • Experience in architecture, engineering, construction (A/E/C), or one of the firm’s client markets is preferred.
  • Familiarity with proposal development is a plus.
  • Involvement in SMPS or other relevant professional or community organizations is preferred.
