What You Will Do Software Engineer II – Sensors, Space and Air – McKinney Join the Software Engineering team at Raytheon, where we develop cutting-edge software applications focused on solving our customers' toughest defense challenges. In this role, you will be part of an elite software engineering team to design, code, integrate, and test critical real-time embedded software with applications to advanced next generation sensors, guidance, and fire control systems. Operating at the leading edge of technology, you will contribute across all phases of the software development lifecycle to deliver innovative solutions that help keep our nation and allies safe. Key Responsibilities: Work on complex technical problems and collaborate to provide innovative solutions. Requires investigation and troubleshooting skills to assess issues and develop resolutions. Work at all phases of the SW development lifecycle, including SW/HW integration, dependent on program phase Assist in the derivation of system and software requirements, architectural modeling, and technical analysis Design, code, unit test, integrate, and document real-time embedded software solutions with a focus on RF and sensing capabilities. Participate actively in software peer reviews, code inspections, and technical decision-making alongside multidisciplinary teams, including program leadership and customers Support program execution to ensure work products meet technical, cost, schedule, and quality baselines. Follow established software development processes and practices to maintain software product integrity. Work Location: Onsite at our McKinney, TX Campus This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Qualifications You Must Have Master’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from accredited institution. Degree must be obtained by start date. Experience in developing, testing, and integrating real-time software applications written in C++ or closely related software languages. Experience in computer scripting languages such as Python/Shell/Perl. Strong Object-Oriented Design knowledge Embedded software development knowledge. Experience developing software in a team-based development environment. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Strong problem-solving ability Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases. Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects. Qualifications We Prefer Knowledge of Software Development Processes and experience participating in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements, design, implementation, and testing Development experience on Linux, VxWorks, or other Real Time Operating Systems Practical experience with developing and integrating software RF systems. Experience working in lab environments with physical hardware (e.g., test benches, simulators). Experience with product development utilizing the Scrum techniques of the Agile software development process. Experience with DevSecOps pipeline implementation and use, including Static Code Analysis, Automated Build, and Automated Test techniques using continuous integration/continuous delivery with Test-Driven Development approach. Hands-on experience with Git for version control and GitLab for repository management. Modeling and Simulation knowledge. Real-time, multi-threaded software development experience. Experience in Agile development methods including Scrum, automated testing, and continuous integration. The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
