Job Summary At IGS Energy, we leverage Agile principles to rapidly deliver high quality software via close collaboration with stakeholders and iterative development. As a Software Engineering Lead on the Solar team, you will be involved in all phases of software development, from requirements definition through production releases and production support. You will be embedded in a cross-functional team of analysts, product managers, and testing staff, collectively striving to quickly deliver high-quality, high-value software. We work in an environment that encourages individual initiative, leadership at all levels, and team-based continuous improvement. In this role, you will balance hands-on development with leading a team of engineers. You will have direct reports, you will stay in the code, and you will own what your team ships and how it runs in production. However, your most important responsibility will be building a team that emphasizes a culture of excellence, high performance, and continuous improvement. We are looking for someone who wants to grow other people's careers, drive technical change instead of waiting for it, bring new patterns into a mature codebase, and help our engineering organization embrace AI to deliver business value. Responsibilities Guide and mentor a team of software engineers. Hold regular forward-looking, big picture conversations with direct reports to facilitate career growth, give feedback, provide professional development opportunities, and help each person align their career goals with organizational objectives. Provide strategic leadership for a product team, fostering team morale and soft-skills development and collecting feedback from peers. Grow the next lead and invest in junior engineers and interns. Delegate to develop people, then follow up. Give direct feedback and have hard conversations. Avoidance is not an option. Drive the hiring and onboarding of new software engineers. Maintain the technical competence of at least a senior software engineer, continuing to design, code, review, test, and ship. As a lead, your leverage moves from volume of code to the hardest problems and the most consequential decisions. Drive the architecture and technical direction of your product. Follow and help shape IGS patterns and standards, keep tech debt low, and push new patterns and technology when they solve real problems. Ensure that quality standards and project milestones are met by the engineering team. Own your monitoring and production support. Know your apps well enough to see problems before the business reports them, and when a bug does get out, own the fix and make sure it does not happen again. Manage releases and hotfixes for your repos, including change management and rollback plans. Be very close with your Product Manager. Partner on priorities, work breakdown, estimates, tech debt, and prod support, and give the team one clear message. Leverage AI to deliver value and expect your team to do the same. Help build the shared tooling, context, and guardrails that turn individual gains into team gains. Demonstrate the capacity to solve problems and empower team members to become problem solvers themselves. Foster a collaborative culture based on IGS values, emphasizing "Goal over Role", and cultivate and uphold trust with team members, peers, and the organization as a whole. Lead continuous improvement programs for sustainable long-term growth. Commitment beyond the standard work week is expected, for example, but not limited to, meeting deadlines, release nights, and the production support rotation. Qualifications and Requirements Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience 7+ years of experience as a software engineer Outstanding leadership, teamwork, mentorship, and development abilities, with experience leading, mentoring, or coaching engineers. A formal lead title is a plus, not a requirement, and strong senior engineers ready for the lead track are encouraged to apply. A track record of shipping and supporting production systems, and of driving at least one meaningful technical change (a migration, a platform upgrade, or a new pattern the team adopted) Enthusiastic self-starter capable of quickly taking ownership of features, applications, and systems Curious and humble, willing to dig in until you understand and to say "I was wrong" Comfortable with shifting priorities and able to re-plan without losing the team Decisiveness, good judgment, analytical/math/strategic aptitude, and problem-solving skills to act with authority and take risks in an environment with little direction from others Thinks in systems, building signals for the things you cannot watch yourself Excellent written and oral communication skills necessary to interface with and influence all levels of the organization Knowledge of business analysis methodologies, procedures, and development tools Very strong technical skills, specifically an in-depth knowledge of C#, SQL, and web frameworks Deep understanding of application development, database design, and system design Experience with messaging and event-driven patterns (RabbitMQ) Automated testing experience, including unit, integration/acceptance, and Playwright end-to-end tests Experience with Git, Azure DevOps pipelines, and Octopus Deploy or similar Experience with Application Insights and KQL, or comparable observability tooling Experience working in React with TypeScript .NET, .NET Framework, Entity Framework, and SQL Server Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis. Unfortunately, a current or future need for sponsorship is not supported or available for this position. Salary Range: $110,850.00 - $177,360.00 *This range reflects base pay only. Incentive earnings, like commissions or bonuses, are not included. This role is also eligible for an annual incentive plan based on company performance.
