Position Purpose: The Sr. Software Engineer is responsible for independently developing and consistently redesigning/refactoring a product to adapt to our customers and associates needs. As a Sr. Software Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic team with engineers of all experience levels who help each other build and grow technical and leadership skills while creating, deploying, and supporting production applications. In addition, Sr. Software Engineers may be involved in product and tool selection, configuration, security, resilience, performance tuning and production monitoring as well as mentoring less experienced engineers. Physical Requirements: Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles. Working Conditions: Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Minimum Qualifications: Must be eighteen years of age or older. Must be legally permitted to work in the United States. Preferred Qualifications: 2-4 years of relevant work experience Experience building and supporting high-volume, enterprise-scale backend applications that process and store financial transaction data, including POS, eCommerce, and self-checkout receipt systems. Proven experience designing and developing APIs from scratch and building scalable microservices architectures. Hands-on experience with Java, Kafka, Pub/Sub, RESTful APIs, Microservices, and Elasticsearch. Experience working within Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including BigQuery and cloud-native data solutions. Demonstrated success supporting large-scale data environments handling millions of daily transactions and multi-billion record datasets. Experience leading small engineering teams or technical workstreams, driving multiple initiatives simultaneously, and ensuring successful delivery of assigned modules and features. Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor engineers, track delivery commitments, and hold teams accountable for execution and performance. Experience serving as the technical face of a product, platform, or initiative, effectively collaborating with business stakeholders, product teams, and senior leadership. Background working in large enterprise organizations with complex, highly distributed systems and mission-critical applications. Experience with event-driven architectures, real-time data processing, and high-throughput transaction platforms.
