What You Will Contribute: Field Support Technician Position Summary The Field Support Technician provides technical support for telemetry, communication, and control systems used by utility customers. This role is responsible for troubleshooting technical issues, guiding customers through solutions, coordinating field service activities, and delivering an exceptional customer experience. The ideal candidate enjoys solving technical problems, communicating with customers, and learning new technologies. Candidates may come from a variety of backgrounds, including industrial maintenance, electronics, telecommunications, utilities, controls, military technical occupations, or related technical fields. Training will be provided on Badger Meter products, telemetry systems, software platforms, and troubleshooting processes. Key Responsibilities Respond to customer inquiries and provide technical support via phone, email, and remote support tools. Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, communication, and system-related issues. Guide customers through corrective actions while delivering a positive customer experience. Document troubleshooting activities, resolutions, and next steps in service management systems. Coordinate field service visits with customers and internal teams when onsite support is required. Interpret technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and product manuals to identify potential issues. Assist with troubleshooting telemetry, communication, and control systems. Utilize software tools and databases to review system information and support customer inquiries. Escalate complex technical issues when necessary and collaborate with senior technicians and engineering teams. Participate in an on-call rotation to support customer needs outside of standard business hours. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on customer satisfaction, ticket resolution, and service quality. Assist with mentoring and onboarding of new team members as experience grows. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 1+ years of experience in a technical, maintenance, electronics, telecommunications, utilities, military, or related role. Valid Florida Drivers License. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to learn and apply new technologies, software systems, and technical processes. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations. Comfortable working with computers, multiple software applications, and technical documentation. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in one or more of the following areas is suggested: Industrial controls or automation systems Electrical systems or wiring Reading electrical schematics and technical drawings PLCs or control logic RF or wireless communications Telemetry systems HMI or SCADA systems Computer networking Linux environments SQL databases Salesforce or other CRM/service management platforms Water, wastewater, utility, or industrial operations Military technical experience is highly valued. Ability to occasionally travel to customer sites. Work Environment & Travel Primarily office-based with customer support responsibilities. Regional travel required as needed, primarily throughout the southeastern United States. Typical schedule is Monday through Friday with some flexibility.
