Mō te tūranga | About the role We’re looking for an experienced Water Technician to join our Hastings team. This is a hands-on role where you’ll help deliver, maintain, and operate essential water infrastructure across the network, including water reticulation assets. Day to day, you’ll carry out repairs, respond to faults, support planned maintenance, and help keep water services safe, reliable, and up to standard. Ngā tino kawenga mahi | Key role responsibilities Carry out repairs and maintenance on water reticulation assets including water mains, service lines, hydrants, tobies, valves, and related fittings. Complete residential and commercial water connections, including backflow preventer installation. Support pipe installation, maintenance, pressure testing, and sterilisation of new mains before connection to the network. Install hydrants, valves, and associated reticulation fittings to a high standard. Work flexibly across planned and reactive maintenance, with some overtime and weekend work when required. Kei te kimi mātou i tētahi e whai ana i ēnei pūkenga | We’re looking for someone with Minimum full class 2 licence. Level 3 or 4 Water qualification preferred but not essential. 2 – 3 years’ experience in water reticulation. Experience in 3 waters maintenance, with PE pipework and pipe welding an advantage. Strong communication skills and collaborative approach. Commitment to safety, wellbeing, and the inherent requirements of a hands-on outdoor role.
