Job Description: BW Packaging is seeking an experienced Mechanical Assembly Technician to Join our Team! As a Mechanical Assembly Technician, you will build, assemble, and test packaging machinery, conveyor systems, equipment, and subassemblies using SolidWorks 3D models, 2D drawings, and work instructions. You’ll use your mechanical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities while partnering with Engineering and Operations to ensure equipment is built safely, accurately, and to high-quality standards. Essential Job Functions: Assemble packaging machinery, equipment, conveyance and sub‑assemblies from SolidWorks 3D models, drawings, work instructions, may include new equipment, upgrades or rebuilds. Interpret mechanical drawings, exploded views, tolerances, and assembly sequences. Comfortable using multiple computer programs, open to learning SolidWorks to view 3D models. Ability to follow assembly procedures and instructions. Install mechanical components including frames, conveyors, bearings, shafts, actuators, gearboxes, motors, guarding, fasteners, lubrication and airlines. Perform mechanical alignment, leveling, torquing, and adjustment to specification. Emphasis on concentricity, runout, backlash, timing, interference versus slip fit. Identify drawing or fit‑up issues and partner with engineering to resolve discrepancies. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring tools, must possess basic personal hand tools required for the job. Verify assemblies meet quality, safety, and functional requirements. Support machine testing, dry‑runs, and troubleshooting prior to shipment. Accurately document build issues, change requests, and improvements. Work closely with engineering and other production team members to ensure accurate documentation and resolve issues. May prepare equipment for shipping, including crating. Flexibility to take on evolving responsibilities in response to strategic priorities and business needs. Willingness to work overtime as needed. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 60 pounds, alone or with assistance. Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, twist and reach (above and below shoulder level). Ability to climb and work from stairs and ladders. Ability to use hands and fingers to handle, grip, and manipulate materials and tools. Works in a warehouse/manufacturing environment that may involve temperature changes, noise, and moving equipment.
