Position Summary

Drexi is a pharmacy benefit management (PBM) solution focused on transparent prescription pricing and helping employers and members manage pharmacy costs. The Senior Mobile Application Developer – React Native will design, develop, test, and maintain the Drexi member mobile application and related member-facing tools, translating member and business needs into secure, intuitive digital experiences. The role is the senior hands-on developer for a true native iOS and Android application, installed from the Apple App Store and Google Play. The application is built as a platform that additional mobile applications from the larger AMPS business will build on. This project has an aggressive timeline for an initial launch with follow on major updates and expansions of the scope of the application domain.

Working under the direction of the Drexi app project lead, this role will collaborate with internal technology, pharmacy operations, and member services teams. The developer will contribute to responsive mobile interfaces, system integrations, testing, documentation, and ongoing improvements to application performance and usability.

Essential Job Duties

• Design, develop, and maintain mobile application features (React Native and Expo, for iOS and Android) in accordance with the project roadmap, approved architecture, and technical standards.

• Build responsive user interfaces for approved member features, which may include prescription pricing comparisons, pharmacy search, benefit information, member ID card, and medication history.

• Integrate the application with approved APIs, internal systems, and third-party services, including appropriate data validation and error handling.

• Implement secure multi-factor authentication (including sign-in against existing Drexi member accounts), access controls, and data handling in collaboration with the project lead and security team.

• Protect confidential member information and follow company privacy, security, and applicable HIPAA requirements.

• Build to the OWASP Mobile Application Security Verification Standard (MASVS) and support security review and penetration testing.

• Write maintainable TypeScript and JavaScript in React Native with Expo; participate in code reviews and use version control and established development workflows.

• Develop and execute tests; troubleshoot defects and integration issues across supported iOS and Android versions, screen sizes, and devices, and coordinate with Drexi QA to meet their testing standards.

• Collaborate on user acceptance testing, accessibility (WCAG), and improvements to application responsiveness and ease of use.

• Support mobile application builds, deployment, release validation, monitoring, and post-launch maintenance as assigned.

• Own the Apple App Store and Google Play release process, including developer accounts, test tracks, store review, and phased rollout, and maintain the app through annual iOS and Android releases, Expo SDK upgrades, and store policy changes.

• Configure and operate build, signing, and over-the-air update workflows, with approval and rollback controls.

• Document application components, integrations, setup requirements, and support procedures; communicate progress, dependencies, and risks.

• Build the first application as a reusable platform (shared design system, authentication and session module, API client, and release pipeline) for use by later Drexi mobile applications.

• Participate in project planning, estimate development tasks, and perform related duties as assigned.

Skills/Abilities

• Proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript, with expert knowledge of React Native and Expo and the ability to work within the technology stack selected for the project.

• Working knowledge of API integration (including APIs documented with Swagger/OpenAPI), structured data such as JSON, authentication (token-based, with multi-factor sign-in), and secure handling of application data.

• Understanding of mobile application architecture, reusable components, source control, debugging tools, automated testing, and release processes, including iOS and Android app store submission and code signing.

• Ability to build responsive, accessible interfaces and account for different devices, operating system versions, screen sizes, and varying network conditions and offline use.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to data accuracy, performance, and reliability.

• Ability to translate business requirements into technical tasks and explain technical issues to nontechnical stakeholders.

• Effective written and verbal communication, time management, and collaboration skills; ability to work independently and respond to changing priorities.

• Professional judgment and discretion when working with confidential company and member information.

Requirements

Education/Experience

• Professional mobile application development experience, including hands-on development of interactive mobile applications.

• Experience integrating applications with APIs and supporting software through testing, release, and ongoing maintenance.

• 7+ years of professional software development experience, including 3+ years building mobile applications in React Native and personally leading the release of at least one React Native application to the Apple App Store and Google Play.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, preferred.

• Experience designing and implementing applications to meet HIPAA requirements is key.

• Healthcare, PBM, health plan, pharmacy, or other regulated-industry experience preferred.

• Familiarity with member eligibility, pharmacy benefits, prescription pricing, or claims-related data preferred.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Work is primarily performed in an office or approved remote environment, consistent with the work arrangement established for the role.

• Frequent use of a computer, keyboard, and standard office equipment, with extended periods of computer-based work.

• Ability to participate in virtual or in-person meetings and perform the essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodation.
