Work Schedule Third Shift (Nights) Environmental Conditions Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs etc.) Job Description Work Schedule (Sun - Thurs - 10:30 pm - 7:00 am) Environmental Conditions Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance, Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safety Standards, Cleanroom: no hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, facial hair etc... allowed, Fluctuating Temps hot/cold, Loud Noises (Equipment/Machinery), No contact lens allowed; prescriptive glasses will be provided, Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs etc.), Standing for full shift, Strong Odors (chemical, lubricants, biological products etc.) Role Summary Executes advanced manufacturing operations and serves as a knowledgeable resource within the team. Demonstrates strong technical expertise, leadership behaviors, and effective communication while supporting training, troubleshooting, and process improvement activities. Ensures compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards, and plays an active role in driving operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives in alignment with Thermo Fisher’s 4i Values (Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, and Involvement) Key Responsibilities Manufacturing Operations & Process Control Execute advanced manufacturing operations with a high level of technical proficiency Operate the polypropylene carding line in accordance with SOPs, standard work, and MLC parameters Monitor line conditions and proactively adjust process parameters (heat settings, fiber thickness, line speed) to maintain process stability and product quality Ensure finished material meets specifications for airflow, basis weight, and dimensional requirements Maintain continuous production flow and optimize line performance Exercise authority to stop production when safety, quality, or equipment performance is at risk Quality & Compliance Perform first-piece and in-process inspections including airflow, basis weight, and dimensional checks Interpret test data and adjust process parameters to maintain compliance with specifications Ensure accurate and timely documentation of production and quality records Maintain compliance with manufacturing, safety, and regulatory standards Verify batch documentation, labeling, and traceability requirements Troubleshooting & Equipment Support Perform complex troubleshooting and support resolution of process or equipment issues Assist maintenance teams with preventative maintenance, repairs, and equipment improvements Conduct routine inspections and identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability Escalate complex issues and collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams Support product changeovers and ensure equipment readiness Training & Team Support Train and support team members on standard work, processes, and best practices Assist in onboarding and development of new operators Maintain required certifications and training qualifications (e.g., LOTO, Confined Space) Serve as a technical resource within the team Continuous Improvement (PPI) Identify improvement opportunities and contribute to root cause analysis and corrective actions Actively participate in and support Lean/PPI initiatives and cross-functional collaboration Support process improvements to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost Safety & Work Environment Adhere to all plant and departmental safety policies Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready work area (5S) Identify and report safety hazards, process risks, and quality concerns Ensure proper handling of materials, including hazardous waste, in accordance with regulations Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a manufacturing, operations, production, lab setting or related field Preferred: Experience testing complex electromechanical systems Knowledge / Skills Advanced knowledge of SOPs, manufacturing processes, and quality systems Strong understanding of ISO 9001 requirements and regulatory compliance Ability to troubleshoot process and equipment issues and support root cause analysis Proficiency across multiple unit operations or functional areas Ability to train, mentor, and support development of team members Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to influence team outcomes Ability to review and ensure accuracy of production documentation and batch records Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills in a production environment Physical Requirements Stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift Lift and handle materials up to 50 lbs as required Operate within controlled environments (temperature, humidity, low particulate, low noise) Maintain strict adherence to PPE requirements and gowning procedures Model proper gowning, hygiene, and contamination control practices for team members Ensure work area cleanliness and compliance with safety and operational standards Compensation and Benefits The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Connecticut is $30.00–$35.00. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
