The Individual Insurance Offer Team is a diverse, collaborative group that builds and evolves the technology supporting our web-based life insurance illustration experience. We are seeking a Full-Stack Software Engineer to join our Calculations Squad and develop capabilities that help advisors and customers make informed life insurance decisions. Your initial focus will be developing and maintaining insurance calculations in ProductXpress. As your knowledge grows, you will have opportunities to contribute across the broader illustration technology stack. You will work with software engineers, quality engineers, business analysts, product owners, and other technology partners to build secure, reliable, and maintainable solutions using C#, .NET, F#, React, microservices, and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). This role offers the opportunity to work with complex business and calculation logic, strengthen cloud-native engineering skills, and contribute to the continued evolution of a business-critical platform. Position Responsibilities: Develop and maintain life insurance calculations, initially within ProductXpress and, over time, across other components of the illustration platform. Design, develop, test, and support full-stack capabilities using C#, .NET, F#, React, RESTful APIs, and microservices. Build reusable, reliable, secure, and maintainable application components. Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices within a distributed application architecture. Build, deploy, support, and troubleshoot containerized applications and services in an Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) environment. Refactor existing code to improve reliability, performance, testability, and maintainability. Develop automated tests for calculation logic, services, APIs, integrations, and user-facing functionality. Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, including production incidents, and contribute to root-cause analysis and preventive improvements. Contribute to solution design and technical discussions related to software architecture, system design, integration patterns, security, resiliency, and maintainability. Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, quality engineers, architects, and other engineering squads to translate business requirements into reliable technical solutions. Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and the continuous improvement of engineering practices. Use GitHub and modern CI/CD pipelines to manage source code, automated testing, builds, deployments, and releases. Use AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, to support developer productivity and code quality while following responsible AI, security, and governance practices. Create and maintain clear technical documentation using Confluence and Microsoft 365. Work within an Agile delivery model and use Jira to manage backlog items and development work. Communicate technical information clearly and effectively within a geographically distributed team. Required Qualifications: 3+ years of professional full-stack software engineering experience, preferably developing enterprise or business-critical applications. Professional experience developing with C# and .NET, including building, testing, and supporting RESTful APIs and microservices. Experience with F#, or experience with functional programming and an interest in becoming productive in an F# codebase. Experience developing web applications using React and JavaScript or TypeScript. Experience with containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes, preferably Azure Kubernetes Service. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, or another relational database technology. Experience with GitHub, pull requests, code reviews, automated testing, and modern CI/CD pipelines. Knowledge of software architecture, system design, common design patterns, SOLID principles, distributed systems, and secure software development practices. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in life insurance, financial services, or another calculation-intensive industry. Experience with ProductXpress or a similar insurance calculation and configuration platform. Experience with Java and Spring Boot. Experience with cloud-native technologies and deployment tools such as Helm, Terraform, Flux, or Istio. Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as New Relic. Experience translating complex business, financial, or actuarial rules into maintainable software. Experience with test-driven development, behavior-driven development, and automated regression testing. Experience working in an Agile environment using Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft 365.
