Radiance Technologies, a rapidly growing employee-owned company, is seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented Electrical Engineer to join our missile systems engineering team. In this role, you will work alongside senior engineers to design, test, troubleshoot, and integrate electronic hardware for missile and guided testbed programs. This position offers hands-on experience across the entire hardware lifecycle including schematic capture, PCB layout assistance, lab board bring-up, cable harness design, Environmental Stress Screening (ESS), and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) lab testing. Key Responsibilities 1. Hardware Testing & Lab Bring-Up Assist with physical board build-up, bench testing, and troubleshooting of circuit board assemblies used in flight computers, power systems, and motor control electronics. Use laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, digital multimeters, dynamic load banks) to verify circuit functionality and measure performance metrics. Document test setups, record test data, and prepare detailed test reports for internal reviews. 2. Electronics Design & Documentation Assistance Assist senior engineers in schematic capture, component selection, and basic PCB layout using industry-standard EDA software. Perform component trade studies, bill of materials (BOM) management, and part obsolescence checks. Help design and document simple cable harnesses, interconnect drawings, and test adapters. 3. Subsystem Integration & HWIL Support Support the setup, configuration, and operation of Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) and test fixtures in Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) facilities. Assist in testing sensor interfaces (IMUs, GPS, telemetry) and Control Actuation System (CAS) drive electronics. Participate in root-cause failure investigations for electrical anomalies discovered during laboratory or environmental testing. 4. Qualification & Standards Compliance Help prepare hardware for environmental qualification testing (vibration, shock, thermal vacuum, and thermal cycling). Learn and apply relevant military standards (MIL-STD-461 for EMI/EMC, MIL-STD-810 for environmental testing, and MIL-STD-704 for power quality). Required Qualifications & Technical Skills Education: B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline (1+ years of experience). Foundational Knowledge: Strong understanding of basic analog/digital circuit theory, power electronics basics, and signal processing concepts. Familiarity with common microcontroller architectures and digital communication buses (SPI, I2C, UART, RS-422, CAN). Hands-on Lab Skills: Demonstrated experience using basic electrical bench equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters). Hands-on soldering and wire harness fabrication skills for prototype work. EDA Software Familiarity: Exposure to PCB design tools (such as Altium Designer, KiCad, Cadence, or Eagle) through coursework, senior design projects, or internships. Clearance: Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD Secret Security Clearance. Desired Qualifications Prior internship, co-op, or undergraduate research experience in defense, aerospace, or robotics. Experience with Python or MATLAB for test automation, data logging, or analysis. Basic understanding of brushless DC (BLDC) motor drivers or actuator systems. Experience with senior design project work involving embedded hardware development or robotics. Radiance Technologies is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
