Job Description The Senior Data Analyst plays a critical role in advancing the organization's regulatory reporting, data quality, and analytical capabilities. This position owns the end-to-end transformation of complex policy, claims, underwriting, and financial data into accurate, timely, and compliant regulatory submissions while driving improvements in data processes, governance, and reporting standards. As a senior analytical professional, this role combines advanced data analysis, data engineering, insurance domain expertise, and business insight to solve complex data challenges, influence decision-making, and identify opportunities that improve operational effectiveness and regulatory compliance. The Senior Data Analyst serves as a trusted partner to business and technical stakeholders and provides mentorship and guidance to analysts across the organization. Essential Responsibilities Design and execute advanced analyses to support regulatory reporting, compliance initiatives, and strategic business decisions. Transform complex business requirements into scalable data solutions, analytical frameworks, and actionable insights. Analyze policy, claims, underwriting, financial, and operational data to ensure accuracy, completeness, consistency, and regulatory compliance. Develop, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, data models, reconciliations, and datasets to improve performance, scalability, and reusability. Partner with Data Engineering and Application teams to design and implement data enrichment, transformation, and integration solutions. Support and enhance data platforms, reporting processes, and analytical assets using modern data technologies and best practices. Own data preparation, validation, and reconciliation activities supporting statutory reporting, regulatory filings, annual statement reporting, premium tax reporting, market conduct examinations, audits, and ad hoc regulatory requests. Develop deep expertise in Property & Casualty insurance operations, regulatory reporting requirements, and statutory accounting principles. Ensure analytical outputs align with regulatory expectations and support sound business decision-making. Translate regulatory and business requirements into sustainable data processes and controls. Independently diagnose data quality, integration, and reporting issues across multiple systems and business functions. Perform root-cause analysis and develop sustainable corrective actions that improve data integrity and reporting accuracy. Design analytical approaches for complex or ambiguous business problems where requirements may be incomplete or evolving. Identify opportunities to automate reporting, improve efficiency, and enhance data accessibility for business stakeholders. Build strong partnerships with Compliance, Finance, Underwriting, Claims, Actuarial, MGA Operations, Applications, and Data Engineering teams. Effectively communicate complex analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. Develop clear narratives that connect data insights to regulatory, operational, and business outcomes. Challenge assumptions, provide data-driven recommendations, and influence prioritization of data and reporting initiatives. Champion data governance practices and contribute to the development of data standards, controls, documentation, and definitions. Establish and enhance data quality monitoring processes within assigned domains. Serve as a subject matter resource for analytical methodologies, reporting practices, and regulatory data requirements. Mentor and provide guidance to analysts by reviewing analytical approaches, sharing best practices, and supporting professional development. Promote a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and analytical excellence. Qualifications & Experience Required Bachelor's degree in data science, statistics, business analytics, computer science, actuarial science, finance, or a related quantitative field. 5+ years of progressive experience in data analysis, business intelligence, analytics, regulatory reporting, or related functions within the Property & Casualty insurance industry. Demonstrated experience supporting regulatory reporting, statutory reporting, compliance initiatives, or financial reporting processes. Strong knowledge of insurance operations and data structures across policy, claims, underwriting, accounting, finance, or actuarial functions. Advanced proficiency in SQL and experience working with large-scale relational databases, data warehouses, and data transformation methodologies. Experience performing complex data analysis, reconciliation, root-cause investigation, and data quality assessments. Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment. Proven ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate effectively across technical and business teams. Strong verbal, written, presentation, and data storytelling skills. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in quantitative, analytical, or business-related discipline. Experience with Snowflake, Python, Power BI, Tableau, or similar analytical and visualization platforms. Experience with data governance frameworks, metadata management, data lineage, and data quality programs. Intermediate or advanced Property & Casualty insurance designations (CPCU, AINS, AU, API, or equivalent). Experience partnering with Actuarial teams and supporting actuarial, financial, or regulatory reporting processes. Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and modern data engineering concepts. Strategic Thinking & Innovation - Connects analytics to broader organizational goals and identifies high-impact opportunities for process improvement, automation, and operational effectiveness. The base salary range provided below is for hires in those geographic areas only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance as well as a generous benefits package. Chicago Pay Range: $128010.00 - $152,184.00 Omaha and Richmond Pay Range: $116,382.00 - $138,414.00 Los Angeles and New York City Pay Range: $139,638.00 - $166,260.00 PLEASE NOTE: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
