Work Location: Los Angeles, California Experience Level: 6+ years Type: Full time Role: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Developer with deep expertise in Java programming and Guidewire ClaimCenter to join our Insurance Technology practice. This role is at the forefront of a strategic initiative to modernize insurance platforms by transforming Gosu-based ClaimCenter customizations into Java.. The ideal candidate brings strong backend engineering fundamentals, hands-on Guidewire platform experience, and a forward-thinking approach to AI-augmented software development. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, scalable Java-based backend services and APIs within the Guidewire ClaimCenter ecosystem Lead and execute Gosu-to-Java code transformation initiatives, using LLM productivity tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Amazon CodeWhisperer) to accelerate and validate code conversion workflows Deep-dive into Guidewire ClaimCenter configurations, rules, workflows, and integration points to understand and re-engineer Gosu customizations into maintainable Java solutions Architect and develop RESTful APIs and microservices to integrate ClaimCenter with downstream/upstream enterprise systems (billing, policy, actuarial, external TPAs) Collaborate with insurance business analysts, claims SMEs, and architects to gather requirements and deliver technically sound solutions aligned with claims business processes Participate in architectural discussions, evaluate trade-offs between integration patterns, and contribute to technical design decisions Conduct thorough code reviews, enforce coding standards, and mentor junior/mid-level developers on Guidewire best practices and Java engineering Develop and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and reliability of claims platform components Work effectively within Agile/Scrum methodologies, utilizing CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git) for efficient software delivery Document technical designs, API specifications, and transformation guidelines for team and client knowledge transfer Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize ClaimCenter platform performance in production and non-production environments Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field 6+ years of hands-on software development experience, with strong emphasis on Java (Java 8/11/17) backend development Strong, demonstrable understanding of Guidewire ClaimCenter — including configuration, PCF/UI rules, business rules, workflow, integration framework (Guidewire Integration Gateway or REST APIs), and data model Working knowledge of Gosu programming language — sufficient to read, interpret, and participate in Gosu-to-Java transformation efforts Solid experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices using Java frameworks (Spring Boot preferred) Understanding of LLM-based developer productivity tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Amazon CodeWhisperer) and their application in code conversion, generation, and review workflows Strong understanding of software design patterns, object-oriented principles, and clean code practices Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git/GitHub/GitLab), and Agile delivery methodologies Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in cross-functional, global teams Preferred Qualifications: Guidewire Certification (Associate or Professional level in ClaimCenter) is a strong plus Experience with Guidewire Cloud (GWCP) or Guidewire InsuranceSuite cloud-native deployments Familiarity with Guidewire Integration Gateway, Guidewire DataHub/InfoCenter, or Guidewire Digital portals Experience with message-driven architectures (Kafka, JMS, MQ) for event-based insurance integrations Knowledge of insurance claims workflows: FNOL, coverage verification, reserving, subrogation, litigation, and claim closure Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) for hosting and deploying insurance platform components Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) Familiarity with API management platforms (MuleSoft, Apigee, AWS API Gateway) Prior experience working on Gosu-to-Java migration projects is highly desirable What is in it for you: Be part of the fastest-growing AI-first digital transformation and engineering company in the world Be a leader of an energetic team of highly dynamic and talented individuals Exposure to working with fortune 500 companies and innovative market disruptors Exposure to the latest technologies related to artificial intelligence and machine learning, data and cloud If you like wild growth and working with happy, enthusiastic over-achievers, you'll enjoy your career with us!
