The Cost Engineer also develops and maintains cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts across the program lifecycle, working closely with project managers, schedulers, finance, and technical teams to ensure accurate cost visibility and sound financial planning. Perform Estimate at Completion (EAC) and Estimate to Complete (ETC) analysis, including risk-adjusted forecasting. Support integration of cost and schedule data to ensure consistency across performance measurement baselines. Conduct cost impact assessments for scope changes, contract modifications, and change management processes. Report Writing & Communication Prepare monthly cost performance reports, variance narratives, and executive-level dashboards that clearly explain “what happened, why, and what's next.” Translate technical cost/schedule data into concise, well-organized written analysis and Power BI visuals tailored to program managers and executive audiences. Draft variance analysis reports (VARs) and corrective action narratives, recommending specific actions to program leadership. Present cost performance findings in written and verbal formats to program leadership and customers as needed. Collaborate with procurement, finance, and technical leads to reconcile cost data and resolve discrepancies. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, Construction Management, or a related field. 5-10 years of experience in cost engineering, or program/project controls. Working knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) principles and cost/schedule integration. Demonstrated strength in cost/data analysis — able to interpret trends, variances, and root causes from complex data sets. Excellent written communication skills, with a portfolio or work history that includes writing cost performance reports, variance analyses, or similar business/technical documents. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with cost control software (e.g., Cobra, Deltek Cobra, MPM, SAP, or Primavera). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
