Student Web Developer & Content Specialist The ASU Outreach Hub is a nonprofit organization that supports the outreach and transactional needs of the ASU public enterprise through marketing and engagement solutions that advance the university and strengthen its brand. It specializes in paid media outreach, data-driven insights and outreach to alumni, donors and targeted corporations. The Student Web Developer & Content Specialist will assist ASU Enterprise Partners in enhancing and maintaining content on a variety of online channels including asuenterprisepartners.org and asufoundation.org websites. The Student Web Developer & Content Specialist enjoys creating digital experiences and wants to further his/her skills in web design and front and back-end development; s/he may be seeking this kind of professional work in the future, for which this role would provide hands-on experience and responsibility. The student will also use AI-assisted development and content tools to prototype web components, organize and adapt website content, and help improve repetitive workflows, with guidance from the web team. What you’ll do Builds and updates websites using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, including using approved AI tools to draft, refine, and troubleshoot code while adhering to web standards and development best practices Maintains websites using content management systems such as Drupal and WordPress, including using AI tools to help organize, format, and repurpose approved content while preserving accuracy and ASUEP and ASU brand standards Performs usability tests to ensure cross-browser compatibility and responsive layout functionality Assists in implementing and maintaining SEO strategy Periodically pulls and reviews Google Analytics statistics and makes recommendations based on digital strategy and user experience best practices Assists with A/B or multivariate testing of content, layout, and navigation using Optimizely Creates, edits, and optimizes graphics and photos for digital use with Adobe Creative suite of applications Manages multiple projects while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines Supports implementation of custom applications using React and other JavaScript libraries Assists in identifying repetitive web and content tasks and developing simple automations or reusable workflows, with guidance from the web team Other duties as assigned What you'll need Willingness to learn and ability to work well with others Strong command of design, typography, and layout principles Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript Understanding of digital design and best user experience practices and principles Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively in person, messaging apps, project management software, video conferences, and by phone Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing assigned duties Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects, while meeting deadlines Ability to quickly learn new software programs and apply new production techniques as needed Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Problem solver who can take initiative and set priorities while being flexible Collaborative style, combined with the ability and desire to work in a team-based environment Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to ASU Enterprise Partners, its subsidiaries and University business and confidential donor information Basic familiarity with generative AI tools for coding or content tasks, including the ability to provide clear instructions, refine results through follow-up prompts, and check outputs for accuracy Ability to explain and test code developed with AI assistance and recognize when additional guidance is needed Ability to use approved AI tools responsibly and follow organizational requirements for handling confidential or sensitive information Relevant qualifications A current undergraduate or graduate student at Arizona State University pursuing a degree in a related field The student must be willing to sign and abide by a confidentiality agreement Preferred education and experience A current undergraduate or graduate student at Arizona State University pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, Web Design, Web Development, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Graphic Information Technology Hands-on experience with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, Copilot, or comparable tools in coursework, personal projects, or employment Experience using AI within a code editor such as Visual Studio Code to prototype web components, troubleshoot issues, or improve existing code Exposure to simple scripts, automations, or reusable AI workflows that reduce repetitive web development or content preparation tasks Preferred skills and abilities Advanced understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript Knowledge of Salesforce products such as Commerce Cloud and Marketing Cloud Knowledge of SEO, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and working with Drupal and WordPress Benefits $30 bi-weekly cell phone reimbursement Hands-on experience in a professional environment Professional development plans Opportunity to network with ASUEP leaders and other ASU students Access to LinkedIn Learning and their 8,000+ courses Professional skills workshops About ASU Enterprise Partners ASU Enterprise Partners is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide an ecosystem of services to create solutions and generate resources to extend Arizona State University’s reach and advance its charter.
