Summary The SCC NDT Program Manager will own all aspects of our non-destructive testing quality adherence within the facility including methods, personnel, and equipment. As an advanced technology Investment Casting operation, NDT capabilities include operation of the latest Radiographic Testing technologies including Digital Radiography and Computed Tomography scanning and analysis along with PT and VT functions throughout. As a member of SCC’s Quality Organization, the NDT Program Manager will also be responsible for integration and improvement within our Quality Management System (QMS) and further adoption of GEV’s Zero-Defect Framework along with our Built in Quality practices. As the recognized site technical authority, the NDT Program Manager will also support all related safety initiatives in line with serving as the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO). Job Description Roles and Responsibilities: NDT Personnel Qualification, Certification, and Management Provide direct managerial supervision of SCC NDT technicians within RT functions. Work with operations team to manage and communicate daily priorities and output. Administers the NDT qualification and certification program for Level I and Level II personnel. Develops and oversees written, practical, and specific examinations; certifies and recertifies NDT personnel. Maintain training and qualification records in conjunction with Factory capacity needs. Provides structured training, mentoring, and technical coaching, building the next generation of Level II and Level III inspectors. Technical Authority for NDT Acts as the company’s designated Responsible Level III in accordance with SNT‑TC‑1A, ISO 9712, GE Vernova, and/or applicable customer specifications. Interprets and applies codes, standards, and customer requirements, & serves as the final technical decision-maker for NDT-related questions in RT, PT, and VT. Establishes NDT methods, techniques, and acceptance criteria when not otherwise defined. Develops, approves, and maintains NDT procedures, work instructions, and technique sheets. Validates new inspection techniques and technologies (e.g., DR, CT, Digital VT) and ensures they meet internal and external requirements. Drives standardization and continuous improvement of NDT practices across the supported organization. Can support production NDT responsibilities as necessary. Program and Quality Management Owns the overall effectiveness of the NDT program SCC. Provides guidance, directives, and deadline expectations for each site. Establishes and maintains inspection criteria, supports complex indication disposition, and contributes to root cause and corrective action activities. Support in Quality Process Engineering (QPE) functions as necessary for daily quality management. Supports internal, customer, and third‑party audits (e.g., Lloyd’s of London, AS9100, NADCAP), ensuring robust compliance and audit readiness. Partners with Quality and Operations to improve inspection sensitivity, reduce false calls and scrap, and strengthen process capability. Reviews drawings and specifications for “inspectability” and practicality of NDT requirements while advising engineering and program teams on inspection strategies. Supports new product introduction and process qualification from an NDT perspective. Process owner for all radiographic testing equipment acquisitions, installations, upgrades and maintenance along with appropriate support function owners. Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) Responsibilities Leads the Radiation Protection Program and ensures compliance with NRC/Agreement State, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements. Manages radiation licenses, dosimetry, radiation surveys, X‑ray system safety, and ALARA implementation. Interfaces with regulators and customer auditors on radiation safety matters and leads investigations of radiation-related events. Required Qualifications: Ability to work 1st Shift (8am-4pm) Bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering or Quality from an accredited university or college AND 10-15 years of experience in large industrial Manufacturing segment Level II certification in at least 2 of the following NDT disciplines: (NDT, LPI, MPI, UT) Analytical thinking and structured problem solving Strong communication and influencing skills Customer-focused mindset (internal/external) Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Results-driven with a continuous improvement mindset Desired Characteristics: Level III certification in NDT, LPI, MPI, UT Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma certification (Green/Black Belt). Experience in manufacturing environments (e.g., industrial, energy, aerospace, automotive). Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
