Summary Collaborate with a small group of power conversion and controls engineers, plus the wider engineering and product teams across GE and its customers, to design and develop Aviation Power Electronic Conversion products. As a Lead Engineer - Power Conversion & Controls, you will contribute to converters, inverters, and energy storage solutions and systems. Based in Dayton, OH, you will help develop technology and product roadmaps, oversee product bids and proposal activities, and work directly with engineering teams to solve technical issues. You will do this by supervising their work and by conducting analyses yourself. Your work will support the successful development and implementation of Aviation Power Generation and Conversion products for our Electric Power and Propulsion customers. This role has real technical influence and visibility. You will use your depth in power conversion and controls to shape product direction, guide teams through technical problems, and help leadership see where customer needs and product capabilities differ. Job Description In this role you will: Work with customers and internal commercial and engineering component teams to architect electrical power systems for the Aviation/Aerospace industry. Coordinate diverse teams to execute power converter trade studies and analyses. Apply the latest Aviation industry standards in your work, and help develop new standards for emerging technologies. Use model-based analytical tools to develop and optimize electrical power systems, in conjunction with electrical power component engineers. Work with suppliers of both internally and externally sourced electrical power components. Review customer requirements for leadership and highlight differences and gaps between those requirements and product capabilities. Work with the internal and external design team to test overall electrical power systems and troubleshoot issues. Supervise engineering team work and conduct your own analyses to solve technical issues. Help develop technology and product roadmaps, and oversee product bids and proposal activities. Provide technical focus on strategic business plans and stay current on technical developments in Power Conversion and Controls. The Ideal Candidate You are an experienced power electronics engineer who can architect complete electrical power systems and also dig into the analysis yourself. You know power conversion and controls well. You understand how converter, inverter, and energy storage designs fit into the larger electric power and propulsion system. You are a clear communicator who works comfortably with customers, suppliers, and internal teams. You can coordinate people from different disciplines, turn customer requirements into technical direction, and spot gaps early. You bring technical judgment to both day-to-day problem solving and longer-term planning.
