AWS Application Modernization Developer - Part-time

Virtual Service Operations (VSO) is seeking an experienced AWS Application Modernization Developer to join a highly skilled team delivering advanced cloud engineering capabilities for a mission-critical, security-sensitive initiative. Bring modern software engineering and emerging AI capabilities to highly secure AWS environments. In this part-time role, you will develop practical applications and automation while helping deliver safer, more reliable releases. You will work with experienced technical partners in a collaborative environment where careful engineering and measurable results matter.

Key Responsibilities:

•   Build and enhance cloud-hosted applications, integrations, and automation tools.
• Collaborate with cloud infrastructure engineers on blue/green deployment workflows.
• Explore approved AI-assisted functionality and secure workflow automation.
• Develop maintainable code, tests, documentation, and deployment procedures.

Qualifications:

• Hands-on software development experience building and deploying applications on AWS.
• Experience with APIs, application integrations, and modern development practices.
• Ability to collaborate on automated deployment and release processes.
• Hands-on AWS cloud experience and ability to work effectively in highly controlled environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with messaging or collaboration-platform integrations.
• Experience integrating generative AI capabilities with appropriate security controls.
• Relevant AWS professional or specialty certifications; Security+ or CISSP where applicable.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance; must be eligible for applicable SCI read-on/indoctrination and additional program-specific access approvals.
• Must reside within commuting distance of one of the following 4 approved secure work locations: Herndon, VA; Washington, DC; Seattle, WA; or Denver, CO.
• Regular on-site work in an approved secure facility and occasional work at authorized customer facilities may be required. This is not a remote position.
• Part-time position, on-site
