Working Title: Boiler/Plant Maintenance Engineer Helper Institution: St. Cloud State University Classification Title: Plant Mntc Engineer Helper Bargaining Unit / Union: 202: AFSCME - Craft, Maintenance, and Labor City: St. Cloud FLSA: Non Job Exempt Full Time / Part Time: Full time Employment Condition: Classified - Unlimited Salary Range: $24.93 - $28.84 Job Description This is a on the job training program for individuals to progress and obtain their 1st Class B State of Minnesota Boiler License. This individual would obtain the required hours to test for a provisional license, so they can move into the boiler position. To provide steam for the campus and monitor the Energy Management System. Make changes to scheduled events and set points when required. Demonstrates the importance of customer satisfaction and represents the university in a professional manner. This position works in accordance with all regulations adapted by the State of Minnesota pertaining to Minnesota State Boiler and Pressure Vessel codes. This position is considered essential during natural and man-made disasters, and during inclement weather. Employee will report for duty as directed by their supervisor and is subject to recall during these types of events. Minimum Qualifications Working knowledge of the practices involved in operating and maintaining heating, plumbing, ventilating and electrical systems and auxiliary appliances. Working knowledge of safety and accident prevention measures and practices. Must possess a minimum of a current State of Minnesota Special Engineer's License. Must have State of Minnesota Class D Driver’s License. Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance sufficient to use effectively and operate safely and to make minor repairs. Preferred Qualification 2nd Class C or higher State of Minnesota Boiler Engineer license. Skills and knowledge are needed in the areas of basic electricity, pipe fitting, soldering, brazing, welding, boiler operation, and electric and pneumatic controls to steam heating, cooling and ventilation systems. Working knowledge of college grounds and buildings. Knowledge and skills in boiler and cooler system operations and care. Physical Requirements Physical health and endurance sufficient to perform work functions such as use of hand tools, handling of fairly light materials manually, to perform work functions using ladders and scaffolding, perform work functions in the tunnels, and to function in adverse weather conditions. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., Push and Pull Other Requirements Please note that successful applicants must be eligible to work in the United States on or before the effective date of appointment.
