AI Engineer (Digital, AI and Transformation)

[What the role is] AI Engineer (Digital, AI and Transformation) We are seeking an AI Engineer to join our Digital, AI and Transformation Department to design, prototype and develop practical technology solutions to address business needs. The role will work closely with business users to understand their challenges, assess the appropriate use of AI, workflow automation or other technologies, and rapidly develop and validate solutions. The engineer will also support the integration, deployment and technical environments required to bring successful solutions towards production. [What you will be working on] Rapid Prototyping & Technical Validation Engage business users to understand their problems, requirements and existing processes, and determine whether AI, workflow automation, or conventional solutions are most appropriate. Rapidly develop proof-of-concepts to validate the feasibility and effectiveness of proposed solutions. Conduct technical testing and validation to assess solution performance, reliability and suitability. Document technical findings, lessons learnt and recommendations to support further development or adoption. Solution Development and Integration Develop and maintain data pipelines, system integrations, and supporting components required for AI and automation solutions. Develop reliable and maintainable solutions that can be transitioned from prototype towards production. Work with relevant technical teams to support solution deployment, integration and ongoing maintenance. Infrastructure & Environment Management Set up and configure development environments required to prototype and test AI solutions, which could include cloud environments within Government Commercial Cloud (GCC) infrastructure for AI workloads Configure AI models, APIs, databases and supporting components needed for AI experimentation and proof-of-concepts. Deploy lightweight AI applications and prototypes for testing and demonstration. Troubleshoot technical issues across AI applications, integrations and development environments. Apply appropriate security and data-handling practices when developing and testing AI solutions. [What we are looking for] Must Have Requirements: Background in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/Machine Learning, or related technical field 3+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering, software development, automation or related technical roles Strong programming skills, particularly Python, with experience developing AI or automation solutions. Hands-on experience in rapid prototyping and proof-of-concept development. Experience integrating AI models, APIs, data sources and applications. Understanding of Responsible AI, data handling and solution evaluation. Ability to troubleshoot, test and technically validate solutions. Good to Have: Experience with workflow automation and process digitalisation. Experience transitioning prototypes into production-ready solutions. Experience working with cloud platforms and cloud-based AI services. Familiarity with Singapore Government Commercial Cloud (GCC) and government technology environments. Understanding of public-sector data governance, security and AI governance requirements. Personal Attributes: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to technical detail Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with both business users and technical teams. Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team, while managing multiple projects and priorities. Proactive in keeping abreast of emerging AI technologies, trends and best practices, and sharing relevant knowledge and practices with the team.
