Job Description Summary The Senior Controls Engineer – Energy Storage Systems serves as a key member of the New Product Introduction (NPI) Controls Engineering Team within GE Vernova, operating in a global and collaborative environment. This role is responsible for developing and delivering innovative controls solutions for new Energy Storage initiatives while driving the continuous improvement of existing Solar & Storage Solutions. Scope of responsibility includes, but is not limited to, AC and DC systems, power conversion systems, plant-level controls, and integration with customer and supervisory control systems, ensuring reliable, scalable, and high-performing control architectures across the product portfolio. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities Lead technical innovation and influence product direction for energy storage systems. Lead development and validation of energy storage systems including auxiliary systems e.g. chillers, BMS. Mentor other team members and provide technical oversight for development work. Drive performance and reliability enhancements back to the product. Understand the rules and regulations associated with regional electricity markets. Support problem identification and resolution of new and installed products. Have close interaction with customers to drive requirements and customer satisfaction. Interface with senior leadership with confidence and clarity. Work across engineering and services organizations to prepare product-level documentation for installation, commissioning, and operations for use by internal GE employees and our customers. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in STEM field from an accredited college or university. Minimum of 10 years of experience with developing software & controls, with minimum 2 years dedicated to energy storage systems. Eligibility Requirements The preferred work location for US-based candidates is Niskayuna, NY; however, highly qualified remote candidates within the United States will be considered. Desired Characteristics Expert-level knowledge of energy storage controls, validation and verification, formal design methodology, systems integration, advanced controls or related technologies. Expert in the application of GE’s MarkVIe product family and of GE’s Cimplicity software (SCADA). Knowledge of power conversion systems and controls. Knowledge of communication networks (copper, FO) and their design, SW and Hardware. Familiarity with standard industrial protocols such as OPC-UA and Modbus, as well as standard messaging protocols such as MQTT. Experience with Matlab, Simulink, and/or Python. Familiarity with Agile software development methodology. Technical project leadership experience. Experience working cross-functionally between Engineering, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Logistics, Product Management, etc. Strong ability to summarize and communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences while articulating technical plans in a manner that reflects customer needs, Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, combined with a passion for excellence and a proven ability to deliver high-quality results on schedule. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
